Frequently Asked Questions

Does my pet needs to be on heartworm prevention?
Yes, we recommend pet's to have heartworm prevention year round. We have several options to choose from.

Why does my pet need heartworm testing if they are on monthly preventatives?
The American Heartworm Society recommends at least once a year testing for dogs. Heartworm prevention works by retroactive protection. It covers any infection you pet was exposed to in the previous month instead of the current month. The heartworm test we run also checks for several tick transmitted diseases.

Why does my pet need a yearly exam?
Bringing in you pet every year creates a baseline where the veterinarian can notice small changes in your pet. It also creates a safe environment for your pet to be up to date on yearly vaccinations.

Does my pet need a fecal check?
We like to check a stool sample at least once a year. It helps to make sure your pet didn't pick up an intestinal parasite that is not covered by preventatives.

How old does a pet need to be for spay/neuter?
We usually preform those procedures about 6-7 months of age.
